Te Ara Hou - the new way
This name was gifted by Tainui:
In 1999 the land and buildings were purchased by the Hamilton City Council to facilitate the founding of a social work village to meet a complex range of social and community needs.
To this end HCC retained land ownership and on-sold the buildings to the Waikato Christian Social Services Village Trust.
WCSSVT was formed out of a joint venture agreement between the Roman Catholic Diocese of Hamilton, the Waikato Anglican Diocese, and Presbyterian Support Services (Northern).
Each contributed equal funding and with the assistance of grants from Trust Waikato and DV Bryant Trust the purchase was completed on 3rd December 1999.
